Hi Everyone, I hope you're all enjoying the summer sunshine and/or air-conditioning. The June meeting of SCVS was very lightly attended, just four people including myself. We discussed summer plans and decided that it would be best to hold off on our monthly pot-luck meetings until September rolls around. So there will be no SCVS meeting in July or August. But we will be starting up again on the third Sunday in September. Hopefully that meeting will feature the long-awaited Vegan Cupcake Workshop. We'll see though :-) But fear not! There is plenty to do for vegetarians around Connecticut. First off, the monthly Vegetarian Restaurant "Hop" is continuing. The next Hop will be on Saturday July 22nd at Bloodroot (http://www.bloodroot.com) in Bridgeport. We'll be dining at 6pm, right when they open for dinner. Bloodroot is an excellent and well-established vegetarian restaurant. Extensive organic ingredients and a unique environment make it a must visit. Note: They do not take credit cards so bring cash. That night Bloodroot is having a special organic wine tasting event. So be sure to get there right for 6 so we can get tables. If you're going to attend, please

. On Sunday, July 16 at Noon NCVS is having a Vegetarian cookout. Come swim in a lovely lake, and stroll through the woods at Sunrise Park, West Suffield. Bring a heaping serving of food for least 8 people (salads, fruits, watermelon, liquids, or any other innovative foods). A donation of $6 per person or $12 per family to cover some of the expense would be appreciated. If you will attend or want more information, please let us know via email Harry at

or telephone 860-623-8082 (or leave a message on Toll Free 1-800-289-3876 Voice Mailbox 3012) by July 1. Or, check out NCVS' website - www.northctveg.org. Finally, I was to make sure you've all heard that there is a new vegan cafe in New Haven! Imagin Cafe is a pure vegetarian restaurant serving a variety of extremely healthy options. They're menu is heavily raw and they have vegan & raw "ice cream" too. Check them out at 930 Chapel St. in New Haven. That's right between Subway and Edge Tattoo near the corner of Chapel and Temple. They've got a website coming but until then you can check out their listing in VegGuide.org.
Take care of yourselves and please keep in touch. If you have any fun photos from your summer vegetarian happenings, please forward some on to SCVS so we can put more pictures onto the website. Josh |
