SCVS March Meeting Reminder
Next SCVS Meeting

Date: Sunday March 12th
Time: 5:00pm - 8:00pm

Location:
North Haven Congregational Church
28 Church St, North Haven

Hello Everyone,

This message is a reminder that the March SCVS meeting will be this Sunday, March 12th, 2006 at 5:00pm.

The meeting will be at the North Haven Congregational Church at 28 Church Street, North Haven CTClick here for a map to the meeting. We will be featuring author and vegetarian historian Rynn Berry as a guest speaker. Rynn is coming in from NYC to speak to us about his new book Fruits of Tantalus: A History of Vegan Rawfoodism and Fruitarianism (with Recipes).

The meeting will, as usual, also feature a vegan potluck meal. Please bring a dish serving 4-7. All dishes at our potlucks must be vegan (all vegetarian, of course, with no dairy, eggs or honey please) so as to be enjoyed by the largest group of members. Please bring a slip of paper with the ingredients to help anyone with allergies or food sensitivities. Remember to bring a serving spoon as well. You can be creative!

Additional Announcements

I'd also like to remind you that there is a screening of Peaceabe Kingdom tomorrow at the New Haven Free Public Library. What follows is the original description that was sent in the last message you received from SCVS. I hope to see some of you there with friends or family.

ImageSeveral SCVS members have been involved in the planning of a free movie screening in New Haven. The event will take place on Saturday, March 11th, the day before our monthly meeting.  The film to be shown is a poweful documentary entitled "Peaceable Kingdom ". This film is extremely engaging and is presented in hopes of extending an understanding of some of the problems caused by animal agriculture. Non-vegetarians are encouraged to attend. Vegetarians are also welcome and we hope you'll bring friends and family. The film is a great tool for sharing the ethical reasons many people go vegetarian.  For more information about the film and the screening, please visit this page. Did I mention there will be lots of yummy snacks and a discussion following the film?

Following the screening, the monthly restaurant "hop" of the Connecticut vegetarian societies will be taking place at Lalibela Ethiopian Restaurant. I hope you'll come to New Haven and enjoy both of these events, as well as the monthly meeting in North Haven.

Take care,

Joshua
