On September 19th, 2004, SCVS members gathered at Locket's Meadow (LocketsMeadow.com),
a riding center in Bethany, where Kathleen and David provide year-round
riding services and also take care of rescued PMU horses. More
information about these horses and their ordeal can be found at PMURescue.org.
Original Announcement:
On SUNDAY, SEPT. 19, at 2 p.m., at 771 LITCHFIELD TURNPIKE, BETHANY, we
will have a VEGAN POTLUCK at the house/farm of SCVS members Kathleen
Schurman and David Melina. Please bring a VEGAN MEAL with 4 to 6
servings, with a list of INGREDIENTS. Also, please bring a recyclable
cup. David and Kathleen have RAINPROOF ACCOMMODATIONS (sp?) for this
event, should the need arise.
Every September, Kathleen and David rescue a few dozen PMU foals, very
young horses that are a byproduct of the pharmaceutical industry --
horses that otherwise would be slaughtered. Please bring a VOLUNTARY $5
DONATION to help David and Kathleen continue their great work. |
