SCVS February Meeting Announcement

Next SCVS Meeting

Date: Sunday February 12th
Time: 5:00pm - 8:00pm

Location:
North Haven Congregational Church
28 Church St, North Haven
Hello Everyone,

Are you ready for some foo...d?!  After the unfortunate loss of a January meeting, I am overjoyed to be announcing that our next meeting is on schedule and looks to be a good one. The February SCVS meeting will be on Sunday, February 12th, 2006 at 5:00pm.

February's meeting will once again be at the North Haven Congregational Church at 28 Church Street, North Haven CT. If you have any trouble finding the location, please feel free to call my cell phone at (203) 627-1070 and I'll try to direct you.  Click here for a map to the meeting.

We will be featuring author and vegetarian historian Rynn Berry as a guest speaker. Rynn is coming in from NYC to speak to us about his new book Fruits of Tantalus: A History of Vegan Rawfoodism and Fruitarianism (with Recipes). I believe Rynn will be bringing copies of his works for sale and he'll surely have a question and answer session. So if you've ever wondered who the first vegetarians in the United States were, or what Plato ate, this is the time to ask.

As usual, this month's meeting will be a vegan potluck. While we're not having a specific theme for this meal, I think a suggestion or two might get the culinary inspiration going. February features a certain holiday for greeting card makers and candy companies. Oh, and lovers too! I think it would be a shame if we didn't have anything chocolate on the table, or perhaps in a festive red. But even more topical, since Rynn Berry will be talking about raw food, some raw dishes are more than welcome!

Please bring a dish serving 5-7. All dishes at our potlucks must be vegan (all vegetarian, of course, with no dairy, eggs or honey please) so as to be enjoyed by the largest group of members. Please bring a slip of paper with the ingredients to help anyone with allergies or food sensitivities. Remember to bring a serving spoon as well. You can be creative! Enjoy the flavors of the fall and socialize with vegetarians from throughout our area.

Take care,

Joshua
