Hello Everyone,
As September marches on, I've been thinking about the foods
coming out of the fall harvest. I picked up my first hard squash in
months at the store this week. A wonderful thing about this time of
year is the few weeks where the bounty of two seasons are available at
once.
I am pleased to announce that the next SCVS
meeting will be on Sunday, October 9th, 2005 at 5:00pm
Please note, we're going to be at a new location this month. During
recent meetings where we had a guest speaker, it became clear that Edge
of the Woods, who have been so kind to SCVS for the last few years, is
not the best location for our needs. SCVS volunteer Kathryn has
searched the New Haven area for a location suitable for our group and
our limited resources. This month's meeting will be at the North Haven
Congregational Church at 28 Church Street, North Haven CT.
If you have any trouble finding the location, please feel free to call
my cell phone at (203) 627-1070 and I'll try to direct you. Click here for a map to the meeting.
This month's meeting
will be a vegan potluck and feature a new guest speaker, Emrys Tetu, HHC. A Certified Holistic Health Counselor, Emrys has a practice in Chester, and will be giving a talk titled "Sweet Enough Already: Talking About Sugar in its
Many Forms". For more information on Emrys and her practice, please visit her website here.
Please bring a dish serving 5-7. All dishes at our potlucks
must be vegan (all vegetarian, of course, with no dairy, eggs or honey
please) so as to be enjoyed by the largest group of members. Please
bring a slip of paper with the ingredients to help anyone with
allergies or food sensitivities. Remember to bring a serving spoon as well. You can be creative! Enjoy the flavors
of the fall and socialize with vegetarians from throughout our
area.
I will be sending a quick meeting reminder in the week before the meeting. Please spread the word and bring a friend.
Take care,
Joshua
