Hello Everyone,
Can you smell the fall coming? I can almost catch it on
the wind and I'm looking forward to things cooling down a bit, tasting
the wonderful fall flavors and waiting for the fall colors to arrive.
What better way to pass these autumn days than to get together with
fellow vegetarians and enjoy some good food?
I am pleased to announce that the next SCVS
meeting will be on Sunday, September 11th, 2005 at 2:00pm
The location
is Edge of the Woods, our old faithful. This month's meeting
will be a vegan potluck with some small SCVS organizational business to
discuss. Please bring a dish serving 5-7. All dishes at our potlucks
must be vegan (all vegetarian, of course, with no dairy, eggs or honey
please) so as to be enjoyed by the largest group of members. Please
bring a slip of paper with the ingredients to help anyone with
allergies or food sensitivities. You can be creative! Enjoy the flavors
of the early fall and socialize with vegetarians from throughout our
area.
SCVS has been featured in two media stories recently. The first was
an article about SCVS and yours truly in the Meriden Record-Journal.
The second is a radio interview on WQUN 1220 AM. The program will be
aired on the morning of Saturday, September 3rd for WQUN's program
"Reporter at Large." Links to both stories follow:

Finally, please write our October meeting into your calendars. On
October 9th we will be having a potluck and a new guest speaker. Emrys
Tetu, a certified holistic health councelor will be giving a talk
entitled "Sweet Enough Already: Talking About Sugar in its Many Forms."
More on Emrys and the class in next month's meeting announcement.
Take care,
Joshua
