Hello Everyone,
My name is Joshua Warchol and I hope everyone is having a
wonderful summer. Is it hot enough yet? During the summer SCVS has had some major changes going on. Our
dear founder, Peter Dean, is leaving Connecticut to do graduate studies,
leaving a hole in many hearts and also a gap in the administration of SCVS.
Several active members of the community have stepped forward to keep things
happening, with myself being just the most techie. If you’re interested in
helping organize events, please contact fill out the contact form on
SouthCTVeg.org, our new website.
I am extremely pleased to announce that the next SCVS
meeting will be on Saturday, August 13th, 2005 at 4:00pm and will
feature author, activist and public speaker Erik Marcus. As publisher of
Vegan.com and the author of Vegan: The New Ethics of Eating and Meat Market:
Animals, Ethics and Money, Erik speaks with a unique perspective. Please come
and listen to Erik’s talk and enjoy the company of other local vegetarians.
Rather than the normal potluck dinners we share most of the
year, for this meeting people should bring light vegan “finger food” or refreshments to share. We’ll
continue our normal feasts in the near future, I promise.
Our good friends at the Northern Connecticut Vegetarian Society are
having their Fourth Annual Pondside and Potluck Party on Sunday, August
14th starting at 11am. Please visit their website for more information.
This is the first mailing to our new, automated,
mailing list. Information on how to unsubscribe is at the end of this message.
Please be assured your email information is carefully protected and will not be
misused. Questions regarding the website or mailing list can be directed to me
via the contact form on
SouthCTVeg.org.
Take care,
Joshua
